Visakhapatnam Tourism
Visakhapatnam, often known as Vizag, is a city in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
Visakhapatnam
was
called after the god of 'Valor-Vishakha,' according to legend. Under King Ashoka's authority in 260 B.C.,
Vizag
was a part of the Kalinga Kingdom. Vizag is situated on the Bay of Bengal's coast. The city is fortunate to
have a
beautiful beach. Several rivers, including the Godavari and the Indravati, run through the eastern part of the
city. Vizag is bordered on three sides by mountains. The first steamboat built in India was launched in
Vizag's
harbour in 1948, making Visakhapatnam a significant shipbuilding centre. Vizag is the Coromondel Coast's sole
sheltered harbor. The attractiveness of Visakhapatnam as a beach escape is highlighted by sparkling
blue-turquoise
waves, scenic shoreline, and an endless horizon studded with ships here and there. Fertilizer, oil refinery,
shipbuilding, steel mills, petrochemicals, and a naval base are all prominent industries in Vizag.
