This is the day of declaring the democratic setup of the country. India has been celebrating Republic Day since 1950. The President of the country hoists the flag in New Delhi near the India Gate. January 26 1950, is a red-letter day in Indian history. On this day, India became the Sovereign Democratic Republic. Since then, January 26 has been celebrated as our Republic Day every year all over India.

Sovereign means a country that is internally supreme and independent of external control. Democracy is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. In a republic, the head of state is not hereditary. The people of their representatives elect him.

ABOUT REPUBLIC DAY

Republic Day means the day on which the whole country celebrates the republic from the Britishers. Every year it is celebrated on January 26 by the entire country. This is celebrated in every school, college, and office, and a big event is held at Rajpath in Delhi. On republic day, a big event is held to celebrate republic day at Rajpath, New Delhi. The President of India hoists and salutes the flag and its three colours.

And on republic day, we perform various activities such as dance, speech, songs, and prize distributions in front of guests, teachers, principals, and the chief guest of the programme. At Rajpath, a procession or parade starts from Vijay Chowk. This includes all the wings of the defence forces, army, navy, and air force will take part in various displays of ammunition. The Indian Military shows its capabilities by showing/ displaying tanks, missiles, and warplanes in that parade. A parade will also go along, having Police and NCC cadets doing the ceremony and followed by a motorcade in which motorcycle riders from Armed Forces show some stunts with a flypast by Indian Air Force planes and helicopters. The chief guest does the flag hoisting ceremony, and the program ends with the national anthem.

The British government did not respond to this issue. Then, Congress started its active movement to achieve complete freedom from that day. This is why our country was liberated; on January 26, the Constitution of India was established.
