Manali
A Delhi to Manali tour package starts from about ₹6,999 for a budget Volvo trip (that is where Safar Mentor packages begin) and rises with better hotels, private cars and extra nights. Manali is around 530 to 550 km from Delhi, and the road journey takes 12 to 14 hours. Four nights and five days is the sweet spot for most people. Go between March and June for pleasant weather, or December to February for snow.
These are the plans people book most often. Prices change with dates and hotels, so we quote every trip individually.

There is a special kind of tired that only Delhi can give you. The traffic, the heat, the phone that never stops buzzing. If you have ever typed “Manali tour package from Delhi” into a search bar at 11 at night, you already know the feeling. Manali is the trip almost every Delhi household considers sooner or later: close enough for a long weekend, far enough to feel like a different country.
We are Safar Mentor, a Delhi-based travel company, and this is the guide we wish every traveller read before paying for a package. We have written it the way we would explain it to a friend: real distances, real costs, what to skip and where people usually go wrong. Whether you are comparing a Delhi to Manali Volvo package, looking for a Manali honeymoon package from Delhi, or just wondering how many days you actually need, the answer is somewhere below.
Manali is about 530 to 550 km from Delhi by road, and most journeys take 12 to 14 hours. The route follows the highway to Chandigarh, climbs through the foothills, and then runs beside the Beas river through Mandi and the Kullu valley. Honestly, the last two hours before Manali are the best part of the drive, so try to be awake for them.
Two things change the timing: traffic leaving Delhi on Friday evenings, and weather. In the monsoon, landslides can add hours. That is why a good plan never squeezes the return journey right up against a flight or a Monday morning meeting.
| Option | Time | Cost | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volvo bus | 12 to 14 hours | Lowest | Budget trips, friends, solo travellers | Night journey, motion sickness |
| Private car or cab | 12 to 13 hours | Higher | Families, elders, groups | Higher cost, long drive |
| Flight to Bhuntar, then road | Short flight plus about 50 km by road | Highest | People short on time | Limited flights, weather delays |
The overnight AC Volvo is the classic choice, and it is the cheapest. You board in the evening, sleep on the bus, and reach Manali in the morning, which also saves the cost of one hotel night. The downside is that a night bus is still a night bus: if you are prone to motion sickness, take a tablet and pick a seat towards the middle.
A car costs more, but it gives you freedom. You can stop for tea, take photos and leave when you are ready. It suits families with children, older parents and groups. Whatever you choose, ask for an experienced hill driver and avoid driving the final hill stretch in the dark.
You can fly from Delhi to Bhuntar Airport in Kullu, then drive roughly 50 km to Manali. It is the fastest way, but flights are limited and can be disrupted by weather, so keep a spare day in your plan.
People also ask it in Hindi: Manali tour package kitne ka hota hai? The honest answer is that it depends, because publicly listed packages range from a few thousand rupees for a basic trip to well over ₹50,000 per person for premium plans. Safar Mentor packages start from ₹6,999. Here is what moves the number.
| What changes the price | How it affects your package |
|---|---|
| Season | May, June and the New Year week are the most expensive. March, April and October are cheaper and still pleasant. |
| Hotel category | Budget hotel, mid-range resort or luxury stay. This is where most of the price gap comes from. |
| Transport | A Volvo seat is the cheapest. A private car for the full trip costs much more. |
| Group size | The more people share a room and a cab, the lower the cost per person. |
| Add-ons | Rafting, paragliding, snow activities, Kasol and extra nights are usually paid separately. |
One tip: when you compare a cheap Manali tour package with a slightly costlier one, do not compare the headline price. Compare what is included. A very low price often leaves out sightseeing cabs, dinners or airport and bus stand transfers, and you end up paying for them on the spot.
| Level | Hotel | Travel | Sightseeing | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget | Clean, simple hotel | Volvo | Basic cab | From ₹6,999 |
| Standard | Mid-range hotel or resort with a view | Volvo or cab | Private cab | Get a quote |
| Premium | Boutique or luxury stay | Private car | Private cab and extras | Get a quote |
Not always, and we would rather tell you that upfront. If you love planning, travel in the off-season and are happy to book on your own, a DIY trip can cost a little less. What a package gives you is time and fewer surprises: bulk hotel rates, a fixed pickup, sightseeing cabs that are already arranged, and one phone number to call when something goes wrong. For first-time visitors, families and anyone who does not want to spend a week on WhatsApp comparing hotels, that peace of mind is usually worth the difference.
A package is only good if you know exactly what you are paying for. Here is a simple breakdown, so nothing surprises you later.
| Item | Included? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi to Manali to Delhi travel | Yes | AC Volvo, or a cab in car-based plans |
| Hotel stay in Manali | Yes | With breakfast and dinner |
| Local sightseeing | Yes | Manali local and Solang Valley by cab |
| Bus stand to hotel transfers | Yes | Pickup and drop |
| Rafting, paragliding, ropeway, snow activities | No | Paid on the spot, so you pick only what you want |
| Entry fees, guide charges, lunch | No | Usually paid directly |
| Room heater and travel insurance | No | Optional extras |
| Months | Temperature | Crowds | Hotel prices | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| March to June | 10 to 25 °C | High, peak in May and June | Medium to high | Sightseeing, rafting, family trips |
| July to September | 15 to 25 °C | Low | Lower | Greenery and quiet, but watch the rain |
| October to February | -5 to 10 °C | Medium, peak at Christmas and New Year | High in December and January | Snow, skiing, honeymoons |
Temperatures sit between roughly 10 and 25 degrees Celsius, the skies are clear and the roads are good. It is the best window for sightseeing, treks and rafting. May and June are the busiest, because everyone is escaping the plains, so book early. April is a smart middle choice, with fewer people and lovely weather.
The valley turns lush and hotel rates fall, but heavy rain can cause landslides and delays. If you travel in the monsoon, book flexibly and check road conditions a day before you leave.
Expect temperatures from about -5 to 10 degrees. Snow usually arrives in late November and is heaviest in December and January. This is the season for skiing, snow play and honeymoon trips, and also for the highest prices around Christmas and New Year.
Three to five days work well. With a Volvo, you lose most of the first and last day on the road, so three nights is tight and four nights is the comfortable minimum. Choose five or six nights if you want to add Kullu, Manikaran, Kasol or a Shimla Manali tour package from Delhi. Trying to do Shimla and Manali in fewer than five nights means you will see more of the car than the mountains.
| Trip length | What fits in | Our take |
|---|---|---|
| 3 nights 4 days (Volvo) | Manali local and Solang Valley | Two full days on the ground. Quick, but fine for a long weekend. |
| 4 nights 5 days (Volvo) | Manali, Solang, Kullu and Manikaran | The most balanced plan and our most asked-for. |
| 5 to 6 nights | All of the above plus Shimla or Kasol | Best if you want more than one place and no rush. |
A quick note on the numbers: of the four nights, two are on the bus and two are in a Manali hotel. Some operators do not say this clearly, so check before you book.
Board the AC Volvo in the evening. Eat lightly and carry a shawl, because the AC and the mountain air both turn cold before morning.
Check in, have breakfast and rest a little. In the afternoon, visit Hadimba Devi Temple, a wooden temple in a deodar forest that is believed to date back to 1553, and the hot sulphur springs at Vashisht. Spend the evening on Mall Road and in the cafés of Old Manali. If you like local food, try siddu, a steamed Himachali bread, and fresh trout from the Beas.
Leave early. Solang is about 13 km from Manali and is the adventure stop: paragliding, zorbing, the ropeway and, in winter, snow activities. Rohtang Pass, at nearly 4,000 metres, depends on weather and a government permit, so treat it as a bonus. If it is shut, the roughly 9 km Atal Tunnel takes you towards Sissu in the Lahaul valley instead.
Visit Kullu for shawls and woollens, then Manikaran, where hot springs flow beside a cold river and the gurdwara serves langar. River rafting on the Beas is optional. Take the evening Volvo back to Delhi.
You reach Delhi in the morning, tired, tanned and already planning the next trip.
| Place | Good to know | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Hadimba Devi Temple | Wooden temple in a deodar forest, believed to date from 1553. About 2.5 km from Mall Road. | Culture, photos |
| Vashisht hot springs | Natural hot sulphur springs, roughly 3.5 km from Mall Road. | Relaxing |
| Old Manali | Cafés, river views and a slower pace. | Couples, evenings |
| Solang Valley | About 13 km from town. Paragliding, zorbing, ropeway, snow in winter. | Adventure |
| Atal Tunnel and Sissu | A tunnel of about 9 km that opens the way to the Lahaul valley. | Scenic day trip |
| Rohtang Pass | About 51 km from Manali at nearly 4,000 metres. Needs a permit and good weather. | Snow, seasonal |
| Manikaran | Hot springs beside a cold river, and a gurdwara that serves langar. | Pilgrimage, sightseeing |
| Van Vihar | A small park with a lake and boating. | Families, kids |
Couples: A Manali honeymoon package from Delhi works best when the hotel is quiet and the room has a view. Spend an evening in Old Manali and one slow day at Solang. Families: Keep the schedule light, stay near Mall Road, and consider a private car instead of the night bus if children or elders get travel sick. Van Vihar, a small park with boating, is an easy stop for all ages. Friends and solo travellers: A budget Manali tour package from Delhi with a Volvo and a mid-range hotel keeps the cost sensible. Pay separately only for the activities you actually want.
Manali sits at roughly 2,000 metres, and Delhi is often 15 to 20 degrees warmer, so pack layers rather than one heavy jacket.
You do not need to carry bulky snow gear from Delhi. Jackets and boots are usually available on rent at Solang.
Look for a company that shows a real address, phone number and registration details, and that puts the inclusions and exclusions in writing. Ask for the hotel name, the boarding point and the cancellation policy before you pay. Read reviews that mention specific things, such as the pickup or the hotel, and be careful with packages that are far cheaper than everything else. If a company answers your questions clearly before you book, it will usually do the same during the trip.
It depends on the season, hotel and transport. Safar Mentor packages start from ₹6,999, and premium plans cost more. Share your dates and group size for an exact quote.
About 12 to 14 hours by road for the roughly 530 to 550 km distance, depending on traffic and weather.
March to June for pleasant weather and December to February for snow. July to September is green but rainy, with a risk of landslides.
Four nights and five days is comfortable. Three nights works for a quick trip, and five to six nights lets you add Kullu, Manikaran, Kasol or Shimla.
Yes. Winter offers snow and cosy evenings, and spring offers pleasant weather. Choose a quiet hotel with a view and a private cab for the most relaxed trip.
Rohtang Pass depends on weather and a government permit, so it is not guaranteed. If it is closed, Solang Valley or the Atal Tunnel towards Sissu are common alternatives.
Volvo is cheaper and lets you sleep on the way. A private car costs more but offers flexibility and suits families with children or older travellers.
Yes, with sensible planning. Avoid night driving on hill roads, keep a spare day for weather, carry warm clothes and choose a hotel near the main market.
Typically the Volvo or cab travel, hotel stay with breakfast and dinner, and local sightseeing with transfers. Adventure activities, entry fees, lunch and insurance are usually extra. Always ask for the inclusions in writing.
For most first-time visitors and families, yes. You get fixed travel, a confirmed hotel and one contact number, which saves planning time and avoids surprises. If you love planning and travel off-season, going on your own can cost a little less.
Share your dates, number of travellers and budget with the operator, review the plan and inclusions, pay the booking amount, and collect your tickets and hotel details before you leave.
The monsoon months of July to September and the shoulder months of March, April and October usually have lower hotel rates. Peak weeks in May, June, December and the New Year are the costliest.
It depends on who is travelling. For a low budget, a 3 night 4 day Volvo package works well. For families and couples, a 4 night 5 day plan with a mid-range hotel and a private sightseeing cab is more comfortable.
